Now what's your excuse?

FEBRUARY IS "GET THE HECK OUTSIDE AND PLAY" MONTH!
So we were sitting here, just wondering what we could possibly do to help people get out more, help some students during reading week... What we could possibly do to kick start the ski and board vacation season... And then it came to us: "Let's drop our pants and give rentals away for half price for the month of February!" And so with that we give you our first rental deal ever! Rent a board or ski set-up (demos excluded) and pay 50%! Simple.

Click on the coupon on the right, download and print the PDF file and bring it in... Get out there and have fun. Even more simple.

Enjoy 50% off all ski and snowboard rentals during the month of February ‘09. Please note that this 2 for 1 offer is only valid for rentals where the equipment is used during the month of February. You will need to have a valid credit card and proper ID in order to rent. You will remain responsible for all damages and late fees at 100% of their regular values. “Travel days” do not apply during this offer.

BUT I'VE ALREADY BOOKED AND PAID FOR A FEBRUARY RENTAL! If by chance you've already booked and prepaid rentals for the month of February have no fear! Just print the coupon, bring it in and we'll give you a rental credit for the difference. Win Win! (sorry, no refunds possible. rentals are never refundable)

QUALITY RENTALS
Life is too short for soppy wet boots and un-tuned gear... And while most rental outlets rent just bottom feeder equipment, we don;t. They may call it "performance" or "demo" but unfortunately, more often than not, it's the least expensive equipment they were able to find. At Gord's we only rent quality equipment. It makes perfect sense. The stuff lasts us longer, requires less maintenance and, most important of all: It's easier, more rewarding to use. You enjoy your experience more, you have more fun, you rent more often, you end up buying... get it? It's a win win thing for everyone involved!

JUNIOR LEASE PROGRAM :: SKI RENTALS :: BOARD RENTALS :: RACK RENTALS

No crap. If we rent it, you can rest assured it's just the good stuff...

Our promise to you:

[1] The equipment will be ready when YOU need it.

[2] The equipment will be exactly what you paid to rent. No surprise substitutes.

[3] The equipment will be properly maintained and tuned.

[4] The equipment will fit.

[5] The equipment will be current technology.

[6] If the equipment fails or breaks (except in cases where there
is abuse) we'll take care of it tout-de-suite, even if you're in the mountains. Just call us, we'll make arrangements for you.

Our Rental Policy:

[1] We offer no refunds for rented equipment, what we do offer
are vouchers ("rain-cheques") that can be redeemed at any
time, without expiration dates.

[2] You are responsible for any repair due to improper or
excessive usage.

[3] When you have equipment in your possession for extended
periods of time, you are responsible for basic maintenance
(i.e. ski/board tunes, bike lubrication and so forth).

4] The equipment must be returned at the due date or you will
be invoiced for the full amount on said equipment one week
following the due date. Between those two dates you will be
charged any excess time due.

[5] Doing rails or any other man-made non-snow obstacle with
our skis and/or snowboards is prohibited unless you are prepared to pay for the repairs.

RENTAL REMINDERS
Here are a few things you may want to keep in mind when renting gear anywhere... More specifically from Gord's:

1. TRANSPORTING OF RENTALS
So you and the buddies want to head out to Banff for three days of WOOHOO... riding and skiing. If you're going to fly or strap your gear to the roof of your uncles' Ford Exploder, here's one thing you gotta know: It's your responsibility to transport your skis or your rented board in a proper ski or snowboard BAG. You can buy them, we rent them... but the plastic bag that Air Canada supplies is not acceptable. You are responsible for all damage occurred during transport. Remember that.

2. RENTAL INSURANCE
No, we don't offer rental insurance. Should you be worried about theft of equipment, we sell great locks from Kryptonite for the same price as what other operations charge you for rental insurance. Plus, check with your credit card company... more often than not, one of your cards includes rental insurance. As far as damage to your equipment, if you should happen to have a mishap... we charge a discounted rate on repairs to equipment when it's returned.

3. MAINTENANCE
If you should happen to be renting gear for an extended period of time (like our Junior Lease program) you are 100% responsible for the maintenance of said equipment. It's just like renting or leasing a car ... You have to make sure it's serviced in order not to be charged extra for repairs.

4. OPTION TO BUY
If you are renting demo equipment and you decide that you'd like to buy the gear you just rented (or something similar), you do have the option of applying 75% of your rental towards purchase of NEW equipment. This is only available to ONE rental period (your latest one) and it is only available for 72 hours following the return of said equipment. Consult one of our staff for details.

5. SPECIFIC GEAR REQUESTS
If you rented skis last year and you'd like to re-rent exactly the same equipment this year we may be able to accommodate you PROVIDED you kept your rental slip from last year. Starting next year we'll be able to facilitate that thanks to our computerized rental system. If you want to reserve for several trips coming up within the current season, we can accommodate that quite simply by you doing several pre-paid reservations.

SELECTING THE RIGHT SKI
We pride ourselves on trying EVERY ski we sell BEFORE we decide to offer them to our customers... So we're uniquely qualified to match skier to ski... Provided, of course, said skier is able to adequately describe to us his or her skiing style and terrain preference.

The reason internet ski sales are measured in thousands of units rather than in millions of units is simply because ski selection is still (thankfully) the exclusive domain of the human experience. the $200 ski and the $900 ski share most of the same components so it's all about HOW the ski is made. Artisans still rule. Art is still a big part of ski construction... It's still about how the ski "feels". You just can't describe that unless you've slapped them on. That's what we do. We try them out, and help you understand the nuances. Help you get the right one for you.

Published ski tests are one tidbit of information that might help... provided you trust these tests not to be tainted by sponsorships, advertising dollars and personal brand preference. Ski-test-review sites are also another source of debatable information. Don't ask us to comment on these faceless, unaccountable, dubious reviews. We can only tell you about OUR experience. We trust no-one but ourselves and that's the main reason (as I've pointed out earlier) we go to considerable lengths and expense to test every single ski we think might be suitable for our customers... [read about our ski test here] We then select the pick of the litter, slap them on our wall and proudly stand behind each and every pair with our "love them or we'll swap them" guarantee when you go with our recommendation (ask one of our ski sales-people what that entails).

Unfortunately that's why we will never guarantee that ski 'X' will perform as advertised on their own website... Most ski manufacturers often mis-categorize their own product, it's a simple result of trying to hit every category... and why even their own 'product selectors' often miss the mark. Sometimes a ski that is supposed to be good at something ends up being AMAZING at something completely different... And there's nothing wrong with that. That's the beauty of our process, finding the jewels that will make your on-snow experience a phenomenal one rather than an adequate one.

That's where we come in.

The only catch is that we can't help you with selecting the right ski over the phone or by email... It's a process we'll only embark upon in person. And while we stand by our lowest price policy, there is a price to pay for all this knowledge, and that price is that you call (or drop by) one of our two locations, make an appointment with one of our specialists and make the trip to Gord's. Not an unreasonable investment we think, considering the potential upsides associated with finally owning the right gear.
