JAY PEAK, VERMONT
Part of our goal (when we decided to take a stab at ruling the world of ski, bike, snowboard and outerwear) was not to go at it alone but to align ourselves with like-minded businesses, to partner with the best and provide for our customers an environment of excellence.
There are a few companies out there that we feel share our core values, institutions and businesses that we've come across over the years that share our passion for a job well done, businesses that take care of their customers in much the same way we try to take care of our customers here at Gord's. Businesses where we like to shop ourselves, businesses that we learn from and respect. Businesses that we know are worthy of your patronage and support Businesses we consider partners. One of these is Jay Peak Vermont. Read lower for more on this superlative resort.

In an effort to continue to broaden our collective ski & board
horizons we’ve decided to introduce you to one of our most
favorite ski resorts anywhere: JAY PEAK VERMONT. Not
only is “Jay” a reasonable drive from Montreal's Trudeau airport, it also boasts some amazing terrain, a sweet tram and some of the very best snow anywhere (you might read those words again on this page).
In the interest of full disclosure I think it important to note that I grew up skiing Jay Peak as a kid. More to the point Jay is the resort that I could see from the resort where I skied as a kid. (Owl's Head Quebec is right across the border from the equally majestic but much more snow-blessed Jay Peak Vermont). The best way I can describe Jay peak is by calling it the Revelstoke of the East. Somewhere where you should go for a vacation if you're into good skiing or snowboarding. Somewhere that, once you've sampled its fantastic terrain, great atmosphere and abundant snow you'll want to go back... over and over. It's That good.
The folks who now own Jay (Bill and his buddies recently purchased Jay Peak from it's old St-Sauveur Qc owners) get it... and they have proceeded to do good things with it... and the plans for the future look brighter than ever (now if only we could convince them to add DH mountain biking to the place). It's a familiar story if you've followed Gord's re-birth, and while we're confident they're going to take Jay places it's never been before, we wish them all the luck in the world.
I like Jay so much that it somewhat irks me when people ask me (when they learn that I'm from Quebec) "oh, so did you used to ski Tremblant?" For the record, if you're from Montreal and you're into real skiing, you ski Jay Peak. It's only an hour and a half from Montreal, the snow is the best in the east, the people are nice, the lift tickets are affordable and it's NOT Tremblant.
Do yourself a favor, check out Jay and see for yourself what
all the rumors are about and understand why most “real” skiers & boarders in Quebec won’t ski or ride anywhere else!
Just to sweeten the pot, our good friends at Jay Peak have
offered Gord’s Manitoba customers a deal to help “motivate” you to try the best eastern skiing has to offer. Call in to Jay’s
reservations department at 800.451.4449 and simply mention
the code “GORDS” and BAM! immediately get a big fat 25%
off your package. SWEET! All you need is a manitoba address and a minimum 3 day stay. PERFECT.
Located in Northern Vermont only a few miles from the
Canadian border, (check out the map below) Jay Peak has a different perspective on
the sport. Up there, the mountain reigns supreme and its
unparalleled gladed terrain and abutting
backcountry attracts some of the best
skiers and riders around. Jay Peak
also rightfully boasts the most snow
in eastern North America as well as
the most liberal in-bounds policy
anywhere. For more info about Jay
check back soon as JF finishes-up his diatribe about the place or check out their excellent website at jaypeakresort.com!
