UH, ARE YOU CERTAIN THAT YOU
WANT TO KNOW
WHAT I THINK?
Hard to believe that anyone would care what I thought about anything. But since I make many of the end decisions on what we sell here at Gord's Ski and Bike I guess it would make sense to share with you why we've made the decisions we've made.

First off, a disclaimer: I test lots of stuff... and the more I test the more I realize that everyone makes good stuff. I also realize that the more knowledge I gain the more ignorant I am getting and the more I rely on other people's opinions and feedback. I rarely make any product decision on my own. I run most everything product-related by a comitee of trusted customers and staff before I make a final decision on anything.

Here I'll share with you my thoughts on gear that I've tested, gear that I am in the process of testing and gear that I intend to test in the not too distant future. This is but one step in the process... Once I've found something interesting I usually get a dozen or so people's input before we decide to call it our own... It's just how I've become over the twenty some-odd years of doing this... It's not that I'm starting to doubt myself, it's just that I know I'm just this one guy. I ride a certain way, I weigh a certain weight, I suffer from shitty technique and I do one or two things OK... I'm just one of the half-dozen people I look to to validate my findings.

But in the interest of content and the interest of getting a discussion going on some really cool products, what follows will be my thoughts, experiences and feedback on a few interesting items that you might find entertaining or useful to read.

Check back soon as I start listing off what I've played with recently, what I'm playing with currently and what I'm just about to pull off the shelf to beat-up on.

To be continued.

THE WORDS "AWARD WINNING" MAY JUST APPLY HERE
ver the past 40+ years that we've been working hard to earn your trust and business we've won many awards and kudos... From our SIA (Snow industries Association) award for Canadian Retailer of the Year to our most recent accolades as Uptown Magazine's Best Bike Shop in Winnipeg (as voted by their readers) we never stop working to be the best we can be. Never taking your business for granted.

2007 RETAILER OF THE YEAR
Mike and JF were testing Nordica skis at Sunshine Village in a foot or so of fresh snow when we got the news.

Every year the Snow sports Industries America honors a retailer from each territory, in Canada and the US. This year we are very much honored that they chose Gord's Ski and Bike as the recipient for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. "SIA is pleased to announce the latest winners of the SIA Canadian Snow Sports Retailer of the Year awards.  Each of these awards recognizes those retailers and reps that have consistently made a significant impact in the snow sports industry.  The Canadian awardees hail from six territories.  All winners were voted on by suppliers and reps in the snow sports industry." Needless to say we're quite honored that our hard work and dedication to doing it right by you has been recognized.

Of course this would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our amazing customers and our tremendous reps and suppliers... Not to mention our sensational staff. We read about this in a general communique from the SIA and we're still wondering what kind of toaster they give out with this distinction. Hopefully it's a four-slice model.

If you haven't been to Gord's in a while, drop on by, see what all the hubbub is about. We'd love to get to know you and show you around our new second location on Kenaston.
