WELCOME WINNIPEG'S PREMIER BIKE CLUB!
OK, we'll be the first to admit that we're more like Winnipeg's Beer-League Bike Club. Words like "Premier" and "Elite" don't really apply here. Gord's Bike Club is quite the opposite. We're all about good times, laughter and riding bikes wherever our front tires lead us.
Gord's Bike Club is a not-for-profit entity that has been around since well before Gord's Ski and Bike. As
our founder Gord Reid, would lead rides, organize races and help out fellow riders since the 1940's with his patented zest for the sport. Our goal has always been to uphold that lofty tradition, to bring new people to the sport, to help those who want to ride more, who want to experience the awe of riding somewhere beautiful with friends and family.
To gro our community in a positive, fun and healthy way.

Here's some more modern history for ya: Gord's Bike Club re-emerged in the late 90's as a small group of customers and one shiny new staff member decided to re-inject some energy into a somewhat dormant entity: The venerable Wednesday Night Ride. Everything has pretty much snowballed since Gavin, Matt, John, JF and Steve (The Ride) Anderson restarted the whole enchilada in 1999.
Every year we get better, every year we learn, every year we grow as a club... Of all the tings we do at Gord's this is our crwon jewel. We love our club and our club members.
Gord's Bike Club is a non-elitist gathering of like-minded folk who share a gregarious need to get out and ride their bikes with a smile on their faces, a need to escape reality (even if just for a Wednesday evening), a need to be outside and laugh, a need to be active, a need to push the boundaries of their back yard, a need to get less fat.
If you've never heard of our Mountain Bike Club and our many rides, you're sure missing out. Gord's Mountain Bike Club members are not only great riding buddies, they are also our family, focus group test team, marketing dartboard, drinking, buddies, best friends.... We are a gregarious and diverse group of riders (over 300 members), we love to ride together and share our love of riding (from casual early-season Wednesday Night Rides to more advanced Epic Rides)...If you're looking for a way to ride more, meet some interesting and fun people and have a great time on your bike, scroll down for more information on Gord's Mountain Bike Club. And don't worry... Everyone's welcome...(Just as long as you have a bit of patience and a healthy sense of humor!).
Don't let your previous 'club' experiences fool you. Gord's MTB Club is unique in the way we do things: Our Club's stated goal is to promote a fun, positive, healthy, gregarious and active lifestyle through kindhearted peer-pressure and as much laughing as possible... (on our bikes) All while challenging ourselves. Click on the 'more' link below for more info on Gord's Mountain Bike Club, our community and our activities.
We run several group rides a week including Thursday Night Rides, Tuesday Night Family Rides, Wednesday Night
Rides, Sunday Epic Rides and Weekly Road rides and a few others here and there... Like Panoramaaah!
Check out the many links we have kicking around this page... Most of what you need to know is somewhere on here... If you need more info, just email JF@Gords.com and he'll fill you in what you need to know... Or better yet, just pop by either store and sign up!!

TESTIMONIALS
We asked our membership recently "what is the best thing about Gord's Bike Club?" and we were happy to see how many actually took the time to reply.
Here are but a few of the replies. Check back often as we add more daily!
"I just wanted to say a quick thank you for Thursday's Ride Better Class. I really appreciated all your help and support with learning how to travel on stairs. I started using my bike to commute 2 years ago, but before that, I hadn't jumped on a bike since I was 12 so it's pretty exciting trying all these new things and getting out of my comfort zone. Thanks for the video, It was so cool seeing it..(I even sent it to my grandma)"
"The people, the smiles, the milestones bested, the camaraderie, the laughter and the peer-pressure to not be a lard-ass tv watching sloth. Did I mention bike rides with my best friends, every week?"
"The satisfaction you feel after ever ride, both physically and mentally."
"EVERYTHING! JF took very good care of me last year with my purchase of a new bike.. the rides always are a BLAST! and defiantly the people! I've come to know some of those people so well, and its always great fuN!!! I LOVE GORDS BIKE CLUB!"
"loads of fun, good to meet new people."
"I've met the best bunch of people... developed a love of MTBiking... although I sometimes wish that I'd started when I was 5 instead of 35 - the fact that I've been able to take up and enjoy this rough and tumble sport at my age is fantastic thing. Keeps me young (and super cool)."
"Thanks for making a beginner feel welcome, learn some valuable skills, and bring a new dimension of fun & excitement to the biking experience. Joining the club has helped me to challenge myself and learn the positive experience associated with riding with a large group of equally enthusiastic riders. Finally, Thanks for uncovering our City's spectacular green & scenic viewpoints which are often hidden. Fun, skills, thrills, & excercise...what more could you ask for. Cheers!"
"The lack of attitude."
"Enjoying the company of great people who enjoy mountain biking and help push me to a new level in riding and fitness."
"Good group of people."
"The people it draws. I love the people we ride with."
"Having a good group of people to ride with, and finding new trails throughout the city."
"It motivates me to get out riding and I've made some great new friends too."
"You get to ride with a group who are serious about riding, but don't take riding seriously. The club takes an active roll on trail building/maintenance inside the city, and in the whiteshell."

NEWBIES ROCK!
July 25th 2010 was our biggest Epic Ride in recent memory and what a ride it was. 25 riders joined us at the Legendary Ingolf with Gord's BikeThis is the 11th year of Gord’s Bike Club as we all know it and up until this year it seemed as if we’d never again regain the Epic Ride glory that was 2002 where members such as Dean Rideout, Carmen, Gavin and Mike Killick did so much to provide the glue with which we built up this club... But now thanks to the dedication of folks like JT, Graham, Darci (my favorite club member of all) and the continued participation and help of people such as Scott Sinclair, Karla, Chris Darazsi, Andrew Oh, Gavin and of course the lovely Mario... (I know I’m leaving a bunch of semi-regulars out of this illustrious list such as Steve, Watson, Gleeton, Chuck, Cat, and more... but you know who you are and we love you all).
Suffice it to say that this year I have renewed hope for Gord's Bike Club. Sure Wednesday Night Rides are always a blast and the quality of our growing weeknight membership is simply astounding... We are so fortunate to have as members such great folks. But to me to future and the enjoyment of our club resides through the leadership and passion of ride regulars and the growth of our all-important Epic Rides.
The addition of Epic Newbies is so key to us... Because, quite simply, they make us smile through their progression and their adoption of our herd as their own... and that’s what makes me smile the most. I’m particularly delighted that Gord’s employee Janelle has taken up the challenge of “walking it like we talk it” and jumped in with both feet... I am also very happy to welcome Janique (aka Janiqwa) to the gang. Her second Epic Ride was much better than her first and while she suffers from “concentration face” (just like Darci, Val, Graham and many others) she regularly reassures me that she’s indeed having a blast... Her hubby Colin is just as excited about the club and we just can’t wait to poke fun at him when he joins the Epic Ride crew... And those are just a very few of the many... Like Paul Anton and that guy who rides that turquoise Specialized who simply radiates positive passion for the rides (despite his unfortunate taste in equipment) and the temporarily sidelined Claudia, and the Triathlon Club boys... There are so many more, I could go on for longer than I should... This is a great year for newbies for Gord's Bike Club and I just wanted to thank all those of you who took the plunge and joined our little club... But especially for the returning membership who have dome so much to support your fellow members. I can’t remember all your names right now but I see your faces, please know that we all notice your helpful encouragement and it's heartening to see what great people we have in our midst.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIDES
Gord's Bike Club has a bunch of rides. The Family Tuesday Night Ride, Leanne's Tuesday Night Girl's Ride, the Thursday Night Rides, the Learn-To-Ride-Better Rides, the Thursday Night Rides, the Sunday Epic Rides, The Road Rides... But the Club's most favorite ride of all remains the granddaddy of them all, Gord's Wednesday Night Ride (WNR for short).
It's the best attended ride of all... averaging 40 riders a ride throughout the season (we maxed out at 54 riders alrady this season)... And while the pace of the WNR varies from slow to a bit more hurried we have always welcomed newbies to the fold with our patented good natured ribbing and have always tailored the ride to accommodate the slowest of the group while still encouraging everyone to step it up when we know they're capable. There's still much riding to be done... It's not too late. Join us and see how much fun riding can be.

TRAIL BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE
This past weekend Gord's Bike Club spent a little bit of time putting a bit back into our bike community by doing two simple things: [1] We gathered a bunch of club members on Saturday and decided to clean up all the garbage along the river between Spence and Osborne. We managed to pull out two F150-loads worth of trash! Something we think everyone should do once in a while... What a difference we made in just a few hours. [2] On Sunday we continued our trail-building efforts on a trail we've named "Gord's Run to Togo" by adding two wooden bridge sections. Lots of screwing around was reported.
